The World Wide Web also known as the web was invented in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee as a way to share information between different computers and find information stored on other computers.

Now the Web is a worldwide phenomenon, with a more than 4 billion people able to access it. The Web has forever changed how we conduct business, socialize, and view the world. It serves as a conglomeration of the best and worse that humanity has to offer. The Web has become an integral part of modern life.

Personally I don’t know what to make of the Web. I see it’s uses and its defects, it is a tool made by and made for humanity, it reflects the will of it’s makers. For the most part I think it can be a wonderful thing allowing us to share, learn, and socialize with the world around us. We can track the progress of a storm as it crosses the ocean, we can learn everything that is known about anything, we can talk with people continents apart. However on the other hand there is a lot of disinformation on the web, we have to take in account that everything online may not always be factually correct. The internet also provides a platform for ideologies and belief systems that may not have the betterment of humankind at heart. It is up to us to ignore the vile and find those who best exemplify the future and ideals we want to see .

Follow Neil Gaiman, or don’t but definitely read his books.
